2008 IBHF Minutes:
President George Strickland called meeting to order at the Southern Main Beagle Club on July
5th, 2008. The president welcomed all guest and delegates:
Guest were:
Vic Costanza: Purina Rep
Beverly Cross: North American Stud Book
Sharon Ward Cate: Better Beagling Magazine
Delegates present:
Maine: Tom Cheney and George Strickland
PVA: Absent
NY: Vic Costanza
Southern Large Pack: Mel Faust & Louis Jordan
NH/VT: Bob Sweet & Sharon Ward Cate
Canada: Dan Kane & George Steeves
Northern Michigan: Absent
Secretary’s report was accepted as written, Treasures report was read & accepted. This year
we had election of Offices below is the results:

There was quite a bit of conversation on how we might be able to bring in more revenue. The idea of
charging for Litter Registrations was discussed and after much input it was voted down. In lieu of
charging for Litter Registrations it was voted to increase the entries fee to $25.00.
Another topic of discussion, where we might be able to hold Futurity next year. We will have an answer
to that question sometime in August. It was voted on to have all delegates contact clubs in their
association and ask about them hosting the Futurity in coming years so that maybe we could get a list
together for upcoming years. Any Club interested please contact Deb Brown 502 Guild Hill Road

Or phone Deb @ 802-244-8507. We need to know by Sept 15th of each year of any club that is
interesting in hosting the Futurity. Northfield Beagle Club in Williamstown Vermont will host our 2009

New business:
To stop requiring Litters to be registered with the Futurity,
It is the feeling of many that the purpose of registering litters is no longer valid and is creating a lot of
unnecessary work for many. Mickey Sergio from AKC said we were the only ones at this time requiring
this. After much discussion it was motioned to not require litters to be registered, seconded, voted and
passed. The only requirement is the hound must be turning two the year it runs in the Futurity . Example if
you have a hound that was born in 2008 that hound is eligible to run in the 2010 Futurity.
Mickey Sergio asked that we let all judges know that they must attend an Advance Judging Seminar by
Dec 31st 2009 if they plan on judging next year.
It was motioned and passed to give a $100 donation to the Barre Town Fire Department for the use of
their tent which they put up and will take down for us. It was also motioned to write Bev Cross a thank
you letter for all of her hard work on our new website. It was motioned and seconded to close meeting.
